Overview

In this role you will prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for large industrial projects and support preconstruction decisions. You will analyze plans, perform takeoffs, and evaluate bids to identify cost-saving and constructability opportunities. You collaborate with project teams to align estimates with site conditions and project requirements, helping to drive profitable, safe, and on-time project delivery. This position focuses on wastewater plants, power facilities, and other process plants, offering meaningful impact through meticulous cost control and clear pricing rationale.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for industrial projects such as wastewater plants and power facilities.
  • Review drawings, specs, and RFI clarifications to define complete scopes of work.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers; develop bid packages and scopes of work.
  • Break down material, labor, equipment, and subcontract costs and assemble final proposals.
  • Conduct constructability and value-engineering reviews to identify savings and risks.
  • Maintain historical cost data, unit price libraries, and estimate templates for improvement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, schedulers, and safety teams to ensure estimates align with site conditions.
  • Analyze project risks and contingencies; recommend allowances and escalation factors.
  • Present estimates and pricing rationale to stakeholders and assist in contract negotiations.
  • Perform site visits and pre-bid meetings to validate scope and gather field information.
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of progressive estimating experience in industrial construction with relevant project types
  • Proficiency with estimating software (Sage Estimating, ProEst, HCSS), Excel, Bluebeam
  • Ability to read AutoCAD or Revit drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical, piping, electrical, concrete, and structural scopes
  • Experience managing subcontractor bid processes and supplier quotations
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and valid driver's license
  • Familiarity with wastewater and power generation industry standards and codes
  • Preferred certifications such as CPE or AACE; OSHA credentials
