Overview

In this Sr. Scientist role, you contribute to discovery and development of innovative biologics by designing and expressing recombinant proteins and antibodies, including bispecifics and fusions. You will develop mammalian cell lines, supervise CRO protein production, and collaborate across project teams to advance the therapeutic pipeline. The position blends hands-on molecular biology and protein engineering with strategic input and data-driven decision making. You'll work in a mission-driven Biogen BioDesign group.

Responsibilities
  • Design, engineer, and express recombinant proteins and antibodies using transient and stable expression platforms
  • Develop stable CHO cell lines and other mammalian cell systems for antibody expression and screening
  • Support protein purification and characterization, including flow cytometry-based binding assays
  • Manage all protein production activities at CROs
  • Contribute to project strategy, experimental design, and present findings in team meetings
  • Document work in electronic lab notebooks and technical reports
Key requirements
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry or related field with 2+ years industry experience, or Master's with 6+ years industry experience
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology and protein engineering with experience designing antibodies and fusion proteins
  • Hands-on mammalian cell culture, transfection, and expression workflows for recombinant antibodies
  • Competence in protein purification and in vitro analytical techniques (e.g., SEC, Octet)
  • Experience characterizing antibody binding and target engagement using flow cytometry (FACS)
  • Experience managing CRO relationships and external protein production
