Overview

In this role you will provide underwriting guidance and legal insight for complex commercial real estate transactions, ensuring title commitments and policies meet standards. You will collaborate with internal teams and clients to solve real-time issues and shape underwriting strategy within approved authority. The position emphasizes risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and delivering best-in-class service in a high-visibility commercial platform. You will work with cross-functional partners to refine processes and share knowledge, contributing to sustained transaction excellence. This hybrid role offers direct access to leadership and impact on underwriting outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide underwriting support and counsel on issuing title commitments and policies
  • Interpret and apply underwriting standards within delegated authority
  • Advise colleagues on real estate settlement procedures and requirements
  • Support resolution of title issues and guide transaction strategy
  • Communicate underwriting decisions to internal teams and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvement
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active Bar Admission in Florida or resident state (if remote), in good standing
  • 5-7 years of substantive title underwriting or related CRE experience in a law firm
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law and applicable regulations
  • Ability to interpret/apply underwriting standards within delegated authority
  • Understanding of CRE transactions, title insurance, and closing processes
  • Strong relationship-building, analytical, negotiation, and business acumen
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative, decisive, and creative problem-solver
  • Ability to work in hybrid model (3 days/week in Tampa area office or remote)
