Overview Senior Estimator at HDR leads cost estimating and data-driven analysis to support capital projects and proposals. You will provide technical direction, prepare comprehensive cost models, and coordinate with disciplines to inform pricing and risk. This role sits in HDR's Building Engineering Services Group, contributing to high-impact projects such as data centers and healthcare facilities. You will work with cross-functional teams to drive accurate estimates and optimize project value, with a focus on innovation and collaboration.
Responsibilities- Perform general and discipline cost estimates for capital projects and services; analyze data and make recommendations
- Support estimate reporting and reviews
- Provide technical direction to assigned personnel
- Execute multiple tasks within defined parameters
- Prepare services, distributable, contractor indirect and/or capital cost estimates in specialized disciplines
- Prepare cost/schedule products for proposals or contract negotiations
- Provide input on level of effort and consolidate inputs for costing
- Perform quantity takeoffs from design drawings for multi-discipline sections
- Prepare detailed pricing for field office non-manual labor and office labor costs
- Develop capital costs using crew-based approach across disciplines
- Provide detail pricing for manual labor rates
- Develop unit rates for discipline items
- Assist in developing conceptual quantities for partial design-build
- Prepare basis and assumption documentation
- Calculate fee based on established model
- Quantify and spread escalation based on schedule and costs
- Develop and perform analysis of project cash models and time value of money
- Generate payment schedules
- Support risk analysis and contingency efforts
- Assist in developing staffing and pricing data for a discipline or specialty
- Perform data analysis and identify data sources
- Prepare estimate reports and summaries for reviews
- Participate in estimate reviews and presentations
- Support training activities
- Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Construction Science Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 10 years related experience
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Advanced understanding of estimating concepts, scheduling and risk elements
- Intermediate management fundamentals
- Able to lead small project estimates
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
