Overview In this role you will lead the development, delivery, and assessment of training programs for the Police Department, ensuring sworn and non-sworn staff stay certified and proficient. You will coordinate field, in-service, and specialized training while maintaining POST-compliant records and overseeing instructors. The position may supervise staff across divisions and involves administrative duties, collaboration with external partners, and ensuring safe, effective training operations. You will drive training impact through diverse delivery methods and measurable outcomes, contributing to public safety and department readiness.
Responsibilities- Plan and execute training for sworn and non-sworn personnel
- Maintain POST training records and ensure compliance
- Oversee curricula, materials, and personnel
- Identify training needs and coordinate SME-driven instruction
- Develop manuals and reference resources
- Evaluate course materials and instructor performance
- Facilitate and administer varied training delivery (classroom, virtual, on-the-job)
- Design assessment tools and report on training effectiveness
- Manage training budget and logistics
- Coordinate with OPS for recruit training and progress
- Oversee Field Training Officer (FTO) program and reports
- Maintain training facilities and equipment
- Coordinate with regional academies and partner agencies
- Lead safety and policy compliance during training
- Public relations and representation at meetings and events
- Supervise special details and equipment inspections
- Operate police department vehicle and travel as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Certified Peace Officer under Georgia POST
- Valid Georgia Driver's License
- Pre-employment physical abilities test, medical and drug screen
- Satisfactory MVR and background investigation
