Overview

As Dean, you will lead the Killam Library to advance teaching, learning, research, and scholarship. You will shape and execute a strategic vision that positions the library as a central partner in the university's success. You'll guide a diverse team, manage resources, and drive innovative, technology-enabled services. You'll work across campus to strengthen student outcomes, faculty research, and community collaborations. This role offers the opportunity to influence library strategy, operations, and facilities at a growing public university dedicated to academic excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide visionary leadership for the library and manage a team of 40 staff and student workers
  • Oversee personnel matters, recruitment, performance management, and staff development in line with university policies
  • Direct an annual budget of $2.6 million and supervise library operations, facilities, services, and governance
  • Initiate needs assessments and lead selection, cataloging, classification, and circulation planning for library materials
  • Pursue external funding and write grant proposals to enhance programs, facilities, and collections
  • Coordinate library programs to meet student and faculty needs across onsite and offsite delivery
  • Develop and implement policies for efficient daily operations and long-term quality improvement
  • Foster collaboration inside the library, across campus, with other institutions, and with external partners
  • Facilitate integration of emerging technologies including AI
  • Support scholarly activity of faculty librarians and participate in resource sharing and consortia
  • Work with Texas A&M System library leaders on shared goals and strategies
  • Oversee budget planning and fiscal management, and coordinate facilities planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Master's in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program
  • Progressive administrative experience in an academic library
