Overview In this role you drive environmental review and permitting for utility projects, leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant studies and reports. You'll shape CEQA/NEPA and regulatory documentation while coordinating with clients and agencies. The position blends technical biology expertise with project delivery and business development in California's power utility sector. You'll mentor staff, develop proposals, and help expand the Environmental Services Practice in Northern California.

Responsibilities- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams and manage schedules, budgets, and project records to successful completion
- Oversee environmental permitting efforts and quality control of biological reviews and reports
- Support siting and licensing studies for energy projects and perform environmental impact analyses
- Provide CEQA/NEPA support and coordinate with environmental projects for utilities
- Develop workflows and communication plans for project delivery
- Lead planning and permitting for electrical transmission siting and licensing
- Prepare and review technical documents, including due diligence studies and regulatory compliance reports
- Mentor and coach staff on biological reports, environmental permitting, and project delivery
- Develop proposals (scope and budgets) for environmental services tasks
- Interact with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and agencies; travel up to 10-20%
Key requirements- Minimum 5 years of environmental planning and permitting experience for California IOUs
- Familiarity with utility environmental review and local planning processes in Northern California
- Experience with Habitat Conservation Plans, Natural Resource Management Strategies, Environmental Constraints Assessments
- Ability to analyze information, manage risk, and deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Strong client relationship skills and commitment to high-quality service
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- CEQA/NEPA and CPUC experience is a plus
