Overview

As Benefits Manager at Dewberry, you will oversee day-to-day benefits programs and drive alignment with company goals. You will partner with HR leaders and managers to design, administer, and improve health, retirement, and leave programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and data integrity. You will serve as a subject-matter expert and consultant, lead enrollment and vendor-related initiatives, and support open enrollment and communications. This role combines strategy, compliance, and employee engagement to improve the benefits experience and contribute to Dewberry's culture of collaboration and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of benefits programs (health, retirement, leave)
  • Support annual benefits enrollment planning, communication, and execution
  • Process monthly billing reconciliation
  • Monitor compliance with ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA
  • Serve as primary HRIS POC for benefits tasks, testing and data accuracy
  • Co-lead the ADA accommodations process
  • Oversee benefits data accuracy and compliance audits
  • Manage and track employee leave programs (FMLA, disability, state leave)
  • Support vendor management and benefit implementations/projects
  • Assist in design, evaluation, and enhancement of benefit plans
  • Partner with Director of Benefits to present offerings and updates
  • Manage E-Verify employment verification
  • Identify process improvements to enhance employee experience and efficiency
  • Analyze benefits program performance against trends to recommend improvements
  • Promote employee engagement and education around benefits and wellness initiatives
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 6+ years of experience in Benefit management/administration
  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs (retirement a plus)
  • In-depth understanding of benefits compliance (ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA)
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
  • Analytical and detail-oriented problem solver
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
  • Strong HRIS proficiency and testing/issue resolution for data accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Ability to collaborate with HR teams, leadership, and external vendors
  • Project management skills in enrollment, vendor coordination, and compliance tracking
  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10% or meetings/training/events
