Professor-Associate Professor/Director of the School of Physical Therapy - Physical Therapy

Overview

As an Academic Component Administrator, you lead and manage academic components within the College, balancing governance with administrative duties. You guide strategic planning, ensure curricular quality, and supervise faculty and staff, shaping student and faculty success. You work across the university to align disciplinary goals with institutional priorities and external partnerships. This role offers the chance to influence program development, accreditation, and resource stewardship within a supportive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
  • Direct strategic and operational planning aligned with College and University goals
  • Oversee faculty matters: recruitment, supervision, performance reviews, tenure/promotion, mentoring, and leaves of absence
  • Manage faculty workload and ensure student access to courses
  • Oversee staff hiring, supervision, evaluation, development, and workload
  • Budget management: development of financial priorities and expenditure oversight
  • Oversee facilities, space planning, equipment maintenance within the AC
  • Curricular responsibilities: program development, course offerings, catalog, and policy adherence
  • Lead program assessment, accreditation compliance (SACS), and program reviews
  • Coordinate student recruitment, retention, and success initiatives
  • External relations: liaison with university offices and external partners, fundraising, and partnerships
  • Serve on university committees and represent the AC in governance and external events
  • Contribute to teaching, scholarship, and service as a faculty member
  • Engage in safety leadership and regulatory compliance (Title VII/IX, ADA) and risk management
  • Prepare required reports and support marketing and communications for AC programs
Key requirements
  • Tenured, full Professor rank (exceptions possible with Provost approval)
  • Experience in supervising and managing academic programs and personnel
  • Proven ability to prepare and administer budgets
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with teaching, research, and disciplinary best practices
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams
  • Experience with performance evaluations and staff development
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes and compliance requirements
