Overview As Principal - Construction Advisory, you lead growth for Exponent's Construction Consulting Practice in Oakland, shaping and expanding advisory services on large, complex projects. You'll bridge client needs with Exponent's multidisciplinary expertise, driving strategic opportunities and revenue. You guide program and portfolio management, scheduling, risk and performance improvements, and data-driven insights to deliver measurable value. This role combines leadership, client development, and technical excellence to influence projects and the firm's growth.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage new client relationships to grow the construction consulting business
- Provide strategic planning to identify and secure new opportunities and promote Exponent's offerings
- Generate revenue and build a profitable team of consultants
- Serve as main liaison between clients and Exponent
- Oversee performance and quality of services and deliverables
- Advise on construction advisory areas including portfolio, program, and project management; project controls and scheduling; risk and performance management; data analytics and information management; change management; and dispute avoidance
- Recruit, mentor, and develop staff in construction advisory consulting
- Promote Exponent's expertise through client meetings, conferences, thought leadership, and seminars
Key requirements- B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture
- Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management and project advisory
- Significant experience in portfolio, program, and project management; project controls and scheduling; risk management; data analytics; change management; dispute avoidance
- Proven business development and client management track record
- Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff
