Overview As Principal Enterprise Architect, Platform & Infrastructure, you drive platform architecture across cloud, Kubernetes, and shared services to fuel scalable, secure, and cost-efficient FreeWheel applications. You will shape roadmaps, reference architectures, and ADRs, guiding platform engineering to increase reliability and developer productivity. This role connects architecture to FinOps, analyzing cloud spend and utilization to optimize total cost of ownership. You'll lead modernization efforts, define guardrails and gold paths, and coach engineers to elevate the EA practice.

Responsibilities- Partner with Platform Engineering and Engineering teams to guide platform and infrastructure decisions
- Develop Platform Architecture Roadmaps, Reference Architectures, standards, and ADRs
- Shape direction for cloud infra, Kubernetes, serverless, databases, observability, CI/CD, tooling, secrets management, and shared services
- Collaborate on platform capability design to ensure scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-efficient solutions
- Define guardrails, paved roads, reusable patterns, and golden paths to boost developer productivity
- Apply FinOps to architecture decisions by analyzing cloud costs, utilization, and efficiency
- Evaluate build/buy/extend/deprecate options for infra and platform tech
- Lead architecture reviews and provide guidance for major platform initiatives and modernization
- Create strategies for cloud governance, standardization, lifecycle management, and deprecation
- Define patterns for observability, resilience, identity, platform APIs, automation, and operational excellence
- Shape strategy for AI and automation in engineering workflows and platform operations
- Lead with balance between standardization and flexibility for product teams
Key requirements- 10+ years in software, infrastructure, platform, cloud, or enterprise architecture roles
- Deep experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native architecture, CI/CD, observability, databases, networking, automation, and security-by-design
- Experience designing large-scale cloud, hybrid, or data center platforms
- Strong understanding of resiliency engineering, SLOs, observability, security, identity, and secrets management
- Experience evaluating build-vs-buy and creating roadmaps, standards, and reference architectures
- Experience applying FinOps principles to cloud cost analysis and optimization
- Ability to correlate cloud spending with services and architectural patterns
- Effective communication with engineers, architects, managers, and senior leaders
- Experience leading architecture reviews and turning challenges into actionable plans
- Experience in large-scale distributed environments (AdTech, FinTech, Telecom, SaaS, etc.)
