Overview As Territory Manager you will market, underwrite and grow commercial business with select agencies across the New York territory. You'll balance analytical risk assessment with relationship-building to drive profit and premium, while shaping agency strategies and sales processes. You'll collaborate with internal partners to extend Nationwide's presence in the Human Services and Nonprofit segment and deliver strong service to customers. Responsibilities- Monitor market conditions and competitive landscape to win accounts
- Analyze risk quality and underwriting performance to guide plans
- Review agency books, profitability, and growth trends to optimize strategy
- Manage workflow and ensure high-quality underwriting and file handling
- Lead and coordinate mid-market underwriting efforts for new business, renewals, and service plans
- Market Nationwide products, support pipeline management, and develop agency relationships
- Consult with agents and partners to tailor risk management and coverage options
- Conduct agency visits to develop new accounts and strengthen relationships
- Ensure delivery of strong customer service and backstop training needs for agencies
- Lead agency reviews and drive adherence to underwriting standards and performance plans
- May perform other responsibilities as assigned
Key requirements- Seven years of progressively responsible underwriting and sales experience in commercial business
- Human Services and Nonprofit industry-specific experience
- Multi-line commercial underwriting experience including underwriting authority
- Strong business development and agency management orientation
- Knowledge of commercial underwriting, pricing, and coverage for middle market
- Ability to build cooperative internal and external partnerships
- Willingness to travel and work from a remote location with 25 agency visits per year
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Professional designation such as CPCU or CIC preferred
- Interpersonal and sales skills
