Overview In this role, you drive the science strategy and execution for optimization in FBA's end-to-end supply chain. You will lead large-scale, production-grade models spanning inventory, routing, replenishment, and auctions, partnering with product and software teams to turn ambiguous challenges into measurable solutions. You will influence senior leaders and mentor junior scientists while advancing frontier methods to accelerate science delivery. This is a high-impact, cross-functional position with a clear line of sight to billions in value across Amazon's fulfillment network.

Responsibilities- Own the science strategy and development of inventory routing, replenishment, product selection, mechanism design, and transportation distribution algorithms across Amazon's fulfillment network.
- Design and implement large-scale optimization algorithms and incentive-compatible mechanisms for marketplace challenges, including auction design and pricing strategies.
- Partner with Product Managers and Software Engineers to translate ambiguous business challenges into well-scoped science initiatives and deploy production-grade solutions at scale.
- Influence senior leaders on technical and business direction, identify new science investment areas, and represent the science perspective across organizations.
- Mentor and develop junior scientists, raise the technical bar, and drive adoption of emerging research methods across the team.
Key requirements- PhD, or Master's degree and 10+ years of applied research experience
- Experience with supply chain optimization, demand forecasting, inventory management, or transportation/logistics algorithms
- Strength in mechanism design, auction theory, or game theory, particularly in settings with strategic agents or market-based allocation
- Experience with reinforcement learning applied to sequential decision-making in operations or supply chain contexts
- Experience with product selection or assortment optimization for capacity-constrained systems
- Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across multiple organizations
- Track record translating ambiguous business problems into well-defined science solutions with measurable impact
