Overview In this role, you will defend employer/carrier interests in New Jersey workers' compensation matters, handling case load from inception to resolution. You will appear before judges, present witnesses, and craft defense strategies, while maintaining alignment with AmTrust's mission and values. The position blends independent litigation work with collaborative, cross-functional projects and ongoing legal training. You'll work hybrid in New Jersey, contributing to case outcomes and departmental knowledge through training materials and process improvements.

Responsibilities- Represent the Employer/Carrier before the assigned Judge of Workers' Compensation and present evidence at hearings
- Develop and present defense strategies based on legal and factual analysis
- Prepare pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies
- Manage all case-related activities and timely communications with clients and claims professionals
- Provide legal advice and information to clients, witnesses, and colleagues
- Contribute to training materials for the WC Claims Department and participate in special projects
- Communicate with Judges' offices, Claims, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clients per office procedures
- Ensure prompt, efficient disposition of assigned cases and stay current with market trends
- Attend Continuing Legal Education seminars to maintain expertise
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Key requirements- New Jersey State Bar licensed attorney in good standing
- Knowledge of New Jersey Workers' Compensation statutes, case law, and local policies
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- 5+ years of workers' compensation litigation experience
