Interior Architect III PreK-12 and Higher Education

Overview

As an Interior Architect at HED, you lead interior architectural work and integrate it with building systems to create high-performing environments. You collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to maintain design integrity from concept through construction. You mentor junior staff and participate in QA/QC, while researching materials with a focus on sustainability and aesthetics. You bring technical fluency in Revit and a design-led approach to impactful educational spaces that align with HED's integrated practice and innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead interior architectural components across schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
  • Integrate architectural elements, detailing, and space planning with building systems and codes
  • Translate design concepts into fully coordinated interior solutions
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and consultants
  • Prepare technical documentation using Revit (construction details, finish plans, millwork drawings)
  • Conduct product research and support material selection with sustainability in mind
  • Attend meetings including design reviews and coordination sessions
  • Support junior team members and foster knowledge sharing
  • Participate in QA/QC and peer reviews to maintain design quality
  • Maintain awareness of trends in workplace, learning, healthcare, and living environments
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture
  • Seven years of professional interior architecture experience
  • Architectural licensure in California
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of Enscape, Rhino, and Bluebeam Revu
  • Familiarity with building codes, ADA, and interior detailing standards
  • Ability to translate design concepts into technical solutions
