Junior Freight Construction Management Field Services Representative

Overview

In this role you will support freight rail construction projects by reviewing drawings, tracking field activities, and ensuring contractor compliance. You will serve as on-site observer, document progress, and coordinate with clients and project teams to drive safe, timely delivery. You'll help manage QC tasks, review pay estimates, and support project closeout under supervision. Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to identify discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate daily records of contractor activities, labor, equipment, and materials
  • Assist field inspections and act as on-site construction observer for assigned projects
  • Complete documentation including daily reports and project photographs
  • Assist with submittals, RFIs, and monthly pay applications; support general construction management resolutions
  • Review construction materials for contract compliance
  • Track quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptance
  • Attend or chair construction progress meetings
  • Observe installation and acceptance testing of equipment and systems
  • Coordinate with clients/owners, project team, and other stakeholders
  • Identify nonconforming work, develop punch lists, and follow up until corrected
  • Develop record documentation for engineer review/acceptance
  • Assist with project audit/closeout
  • Work under supervision of senior staff; supervise junior RPRs and inspectors as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
  • Demonstrated construction experience on multidisciplinary projects
  • Fundamental understanding of contracts and codes governing construction
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Team-oriented and able to work in a collaborative environment
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and Primavera or related packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Active participation in an employee-owned culture
  • Driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle day or night
