Overview In this role you will lead the project management function for the Distribution capital portfolio in New Jersey, ensuring scope, schedule, and cost are met. You will manage both internal and external PM professionals and report to the General Manager of Project Management. The position emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and adherence to the Dx PLMP across projects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, drive improvements, and support storm restoration and closeout activities. This is a leadership role focused on building a strong safety culture and delivering high-quality project outcomes.
Responsibilities- Oversee the Distribution capital project portfolio PM function in NJ, ensuring scope/schedule/cost adherence
- Manage internal and external project management staff and coordinate with Construction & Design Services
- Foster a high-performing safety culture and lead by example using human performance principles
- Conduct site safety observations and track improvements from findings
- Ensure reliable in-service and spend forecasts; monitor metrics and take corrective actions
- Lead continuous improvement to address recurring issues in project execution and team performance
- Promote adherence to the Distribution Project Lifecycle Management Process (Dx PLMP)
- Participate in project reviews, progress updates, and lessons learned; support closeout
- Coordinate staffing and training to maintain job-site continuity and safe operations
- Support bid packages with safety/quality requirements; align with safety and quality expectations
- Provide coaching and development to direct reports within FE Performance Management
- Contribute to the department's Business Plan and ongoing improvement initiatives
- Promote safe, collaborative culture and ensure alignment with FE Values and Behaviors
- Support Director, Project Management in additional needs of FE Construction & Design Services
- Ensure compliance with as-built/red-line drawings and closeout activities
- Engage with Construction and Supply Chain to embed safety and quality in procurement and planning
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business; 7 years of relevant experience (or 10 years without a Bachelor's)
- PE License and leadership experience preferred
- Substation, line construction, or related industrial/commercial construction experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of project and construction management concepts and processes
- Proven ability to lead change management from concept to completion
