Overview

In this role you lead the cost accounting function for manufacturing, ensuring accurate product costing and inventory reporting. You partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering to drive actionable cost insights and continuous improvement. You will oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and financial close activities, shaping cost strategy for a high-tech manufacturing environment. Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage cost accounting for manufacturing operations with timely inventory and product-cost reporting
  • Coach and develop the cost accounting team through day-to-day guidance and reviews
  • Oversee annual standard cost roll planning, validation, coordination, review, and post-roll analysis
  • Maintain standard costs, update costs, review item costs, and manage product costing exceptions
  • Analyze cost structures (materials, labor, overhead, routings, BOMs) and related elements
  • Assess cost impact of new product introductions, engineering changes, sourcing changes, and manufacturing changes
  • Ensure alignment of costing activities with policy and financial reporting requirements
  • Analyze manufacturing performance variances (material usage, labor, overhead, PPV) and provide actionable recommendations
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to drive cost visibility, accountability, and corrective actions
  • Support month-, quarter-, and year-end close activities related to cost accounting and inventory
  • Review and approve journal entries, reclassifications, and inventory reconciliations
  • Facilitate internal and external audits related to inventory, costing, and variances
  • Identify control gaps and drive sustainable process improvements
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and financial reporting
  • Solid understanding of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow relationships as they relate to inventory and manufacturing variances
  • Experience leveraging AI-enabled productivity tools to improve reporting and decision-making
  • People management or leadership experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • ERP experience, e.g., Oracle or similar platform
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
