Senior Counsel - Treasury Management and Banking

Overview

In this Attorney role, you will serve as a trusted legal partner to Treasury Management, Merchant Services and Financial Institutions teams, advising on regulatory and contractual matters to support daily bank operations. You will shape product development, payments, and digital banking initiatives while ensuring sound risk management. You'll collaborate with compliance, risk, and operations to implement policies and contract frameworks. This is a client focused, in office position across our Midwest footprint, offering growth and opportunities to impact the bank's regulatory posture and business strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day legal support for Treasury Management, Merchant Services and Financial Institution Group teams
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements and disclosures
  • Advise on product development initiatives, payments technologies, and digital banking solutions for regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with compliance, risk, and operations to develop policies and contract frameworks
  • Respond to inquiries from branches and operations with timely legal guidance
  • Monitor regulatory developments affecting banking and payments and communicate implications
  • Coordinate legal bank projects and manage paralegals and outside counsel
  • Support other areas of the Bank as needed
Key requirements
  • 10-15 years of full-time legal experience in financial institutions or major law firm with financial institution focus
  • Bar admission in one of the states in the footprint with in-house eligibility preferred (IL/IN/MN)
  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to deliver timely, high-quality work and work independently and collaboratively
