Overview

As an Underwriter for Energy Casualty, you will assess and price complex energy-related risks while supporting broker partners. You will manage a portfolio, guide renewal and new accounts, and influence pricing and terms. You'll mentor junior underwriters and coordinate cross-functional efforts to deliver outstanding service. This role offers a blend of analytical challenges, client-facing collaboration, and growth within a trusted insurance leader. You'll contribute to strategic risk selection and portfolio growth in a hybrid-work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and price energy casualty risks for complex accounts
  • Manage agency relationships and broker partnerships on an account-by-account basis
  • Lead strategic actions on new and renewal accounts, including mix and territorial sales plans
  • Coach and mentor junior underwriters and agency management staff
  • Drive cross-sell opportunities and manage sales process and pipeline
  • Ensure Circle of Service execution and tailored service plans for clients
  • Communicate strategy across the enterprise and educate others on the approach
  • Support retention and influence pricing and terms for key accounts
Key requirements
  • 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience
  • Experience underwriting general liability and umbrella preferred
  • Energy casualty underwriting experience (upstream/midstream oil & gas, renewables, alternative energy, mining) preferred
  • Strong relationship-building with internal and external partners
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • High energy, self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong time, organizational, and desk management skills
  • Ability to navigate cross-functional collaboration and hold stakeholders accountable
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region and work in a hybrid environment
