Overview In this Editor III role within the BIOS Division, you translate complex science and medical content into clear materials for researchers, funders, leadership, and the public. You shape and oversee grant proposals, manuscripts, reports, and communications to support research, funding, and strategic initiatives. You manage editorial processes, collaborate across teams, and uphold the Johns Hopkins brand in integrated communications campaigns. This position offers influence across digital and print publications and opportunities to mentor staff and advance university-wide goals.

Responsibilities- Advise as consulting editor and provide editing support as needed
- Coordinate with Development for strategic content planning
- Supervise writers, editors, and freelancers; oversee production elements (design, layout, photography)
- Lead editing of website content, literature publications, and special projects
- Develop and enforce editing procedures and manage the editorial calendar
- Edit and advise on PR/marketing materials and conference materials
- Lead communications strategy development and measurement of campaign impact
- Serve as liaison to agency partners and University Communications to promote the University
- Mentor BIOS CTCC teams in complex scientific communications and publishing workflows
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- Seven years of related experience
- Experience in editing, writing, and project management related to medical/scientific communications
- Ability to supervise staff and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
