Overview

In this role you will lead the MFA architecture within Citi's digital fraud prevention program, aligning authentication strategies with risk appetite and business goals. You will collaborate with Fraud Policy, Requirements, Analytics, Technology, and Identity teams to design scalable, risk-based authentication that reduces fraud losses while preserving customer access. You will shape rule design, validate changes post-implementation, and drive automation and real-time alerting for faster investigation. This position offers impact across enterprise fraud strategy and cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic, security-conscious environment.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary architecture and design SME for MFA within digital fraud prevention
  • Partner with Fraud Policy, Requirements, and Analytics to maintain risk-based authentication settings
  • Analyze fraud patterns and adapt rule design to new threats
  • Explain authentication journeys and data attributes to stakeholders across Fraud Operations, Technology, and Business teams
  • Oversee design and post-implementation validation of MFA rule changes
  • Lead enhancements in fraud detection dashboards and real-time alerts for investigation
  • Advise on technical feasibility for strategic fraud prevention initiatives and ensure policy consistency across platforms
  • Foster cross-team collaboration, mentorship, and MFA training
  • Maintain awareness of authentication-related fraud trends and inform mitigation planning and controls
  • Pursue automation in authentication monitoring, rule validation, and fraud reporting
Key requirements
  • 6+ years in fraud risk, digital platforms, programming or related domain
  • Experience with mobile/online platforms, API-based authentication, device and behavioral intelligence
  • Familiarity with device fingerprinting, orchestration layers, and customer authentication; programming exposure
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and drive outcomes
  • Self-starter, independent worker, cross-functional influencer
  • Experience with Agile delivery and project management methodologies
