Lead / Senior Attorney - Debt Recovery Litigation

Overview

In this role you will manage state-specific litigation workflows, oversee discovery and document preparation, and coordinate with the Managing Attorney and clients to advance cases. You will conduct research, analyze likely outcomes, and prepare filings while ensuring compliance with debt collection regulations. You'll supervise settlement efforts, interact with pro se litigants and outside counsel, and support corporate compliance. You will operate in a fast-paced environment requiring strong organization, confidentiality, and effective communication.

Responsibilities
  • Manage state-specific litigation workflows and forms
  • Conduct document review and discovery
  • Execute attorney-signature documents
  • Communicate with Managing Attorney and clients about case details
  • Assist in responding to litigation components of client audits
  • Monitor rules, regulations, statutes, and case law
  • Conduct legal research and problem analysis
  • Analyze probable case outcomes using precedents
  • Prepare and file legal documents
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation
  • Collaborate with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, and others to settle files
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel
  • Support corporate compliance with debt collection laws and regulations
Key requirements
  • Active law license in California
  • 5-7 years of civil litigation experience; debt collection experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Proven case analysis ability and settlement skills
  • Ability to teach, train, coach, and mentor
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in internet and online research
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Strong multitasking and time-management
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Flexible and responsive to urgent matters
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to represent the company in various forums
