Overview

In this role you will lead regional construction underwriting strategies to drive profitability, growth, and retention. You will oversee complex risk reviews and champion the development of underwriting capabilities, aligning with home office and field leadership. You will coach teams, monitor regional results, and steer execution through CUREs and best practices. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership in a collaborative, innovation-driven culture. You will shape underwriting quality and risk selection to support Travelers' construction portfolio and regional objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute regional underwriting strategies to achieve profit and growth goals
  • Oversee complex risk and portfolio-based CUREs and assess underwriter proficiency
  • Lead development of underwriting capabilities and provide coaching and training
  • Monitor and analyze regional trends and results to inform business strategy
  • Collaborate with home office and field leadership to drive execution
  • Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management for the team
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Eight years of commercial underwriting experience
  • Two years of people and/or portfolio leadership experience
  • Expert knowledge of risk appetite, risk selection, construction risk products, and regulatory environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities aligned with risk appetite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to lead and influence others
  • Ability to work independently and with internal/external partners
