Overview As an Assistant District Attorney, you prosecute criminal cases across district and juvenile courts in Hampden County and help shape case outcomes. You review reports, file motions, and present pretrial and trial strategies, working with defense, victims, and witnesses. You contribute to compliance with the Victim's Bill of Rights and support a fair, ethical justice process. This role offers meaningful public service in a state-wide legal environment.

Responsibilities- Prosecute criminal cases in District and Juvenile Courts, including jury trials
- Review police reports and charging decisions; adjust as needed
- Manage arraignments, bail requests, and detention or release conditions
- Provide mandatory discovery to defendants/defense counsel; handle pretrial motions
- Evaluate case files and law, determine resolutions; prepare memoranda
- Confer with defense counsel to decide case resolutions; participate in mandatory conferences
- Handle mental health commitment matters affecting criminal cases
- Facilitate case resolutions through plea, trial, or dismissal as appropriate
- Comply with Victim's Bill of Rights
Key requirements- Juris Doctorate (law school graduate); SJC Rule 3:03 certification
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook)
- Familiarity with Hampden DA Personnel Policies and Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct
