Overview

In this role you promote and maintain a safe construction environment by implementing OSHA-aligned safety programs, conducting inspections, and coordinating with project teams. You will lead safety trainings, investigate incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance on mechanical construction sites. You work closely with project leadership to integrate safety into planning and execution, driving incident reduction and a strong safety culture. This position offers hands-on impact on site safety and opportunities to influence practices across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and enforce site-specific safety plans aligned with OSHA standards
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and verify corrective actions
  • Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site safety orientations
  • Monitor activities for compliance with fall protection, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, and other safety controls
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and Safety Manager to integrate safety into planning
  • Investigate incidents and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain safety records, permit logs, training documentation, and OSHA reports
  • Facilitate safety training (OSHA 10/30, first aid/CPR, hazard communication, PPE) and ensure certifications are current
  • Support mechanical construction tasks by identifying equipment-related hazards and controls
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, risk assessments and JHAs
Key requirements
  • Minimum 3+ years of field construction safety experience (preferably mechanical construction)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and experience implementing OSHA programs
  • Experience serving as or supporting a Safety Manager and coordinating with leadership
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach preferred; OSHA 10 with extensive experience acceptable
  • Relevant safety certifications such as CSP or CHST are a plus
  • Experience delivering safety training and conducting incident investigations
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to influence subcontractors and craft workers
  • Comfortable in outdoor, fast-paced environments and able to walk job sites for extended periods
  • Proficiency with safety management systems, inspection checklists, and reporting tools
