Overview

In this role you join DLA Piper's Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation group to advise on equity plans, executive retention, and retirement/ welfare plans, especially in mergers and acquisitions. You will work with a collaborative, supportive team and engage in meaningful, high-level legal work across multiple West Coast offices. You'll develop your expertise, build client relationships, and support complex transactions while upholding firm standards. This position offers growth within a respected national firm dedicated to excellence and teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support case and transaction strategy
  • Draft precise legal documents including briefs, motions, contracts, and correspondence
  • Assist/manage complex cases/transactions from inception to resolution, including negotiations and closings
  • Build and maintain internal and external client relationships with professionalism
  • Collaborate with lawyers and business professionals to craft innovative strategies
  • Attend and participate in high-level legal activities such as hearings and depositions
  • Ensure compliance with evolving legal standards and precedents
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and leadership skills
  • Engage in firm programs and pro bono or community initiatives
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in the state of office
  • Minimum 5 years of direct AmLaw 100 firm experience
  • Strong analytical, writing, and research skills
  • Excellent organizational, business judgment, and communication abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Good problem-solving and conceptual thinking
  • Persuasive communication and management skills
