Overview As a Construction Cost Estimator at Jacobs, you will develop detailed cost estimates for large-scale thermal power facilities, spanning civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines. You'll partner with project controls and engineering teams to build transparent cost models and drive predictability across EPC projects. The role focuses on analyzing cost drivers, evaluating proposals, and maintaining cost databases to support decision-making. This is a hands-on position in a dynamic, multi discipline environment with meaningful impact on project success.

Responsibilities- Develop detailed construction cost estimates for thermal power projects across multiple disciplines
- Create quantity takeoffs from engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment lists, and specs for various estimate stages
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontract, and indirect costs to build cost models
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope, price, and risk
- Support EPC bid packages, baselines, and budget allocations for major equipment and services
- Collaborate with engineering to validate design assumptions and material specs
- Incorporate productivity, crew composition, sequencing, and site conditions into estimates
- Maintain cost databases and benchmarking tools for thermal power systems
- Identify cost risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options
- Prepare basis-of-estimate docs and variance analyses for reviews
- Provide estimate-to-actual data and forecast updates to project controls
- Adhere to Jacobs estimating standards and client requirements
Key requirements- 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimation for EPC, industrial, or thermal power projects
- Strong knowledge of thermal power plant construction and key systems (HRSG/boiler, rotating equipment, electrical distribution)
- Proficiency with ACCE, Sage, RSMeans or equivalent estimating tools
- Ability to interpret drawings, P&IDs, equipment specs, and work packages
- Experience developing quantity takeoffs and building detailed cost models
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple estimates in a fast-paced environment
