Computational Genomics Senior Research Scientist

Overview

As a Senior Research Scientist in Computational Genomics at Vertex, you will apply human genetics and genomics to drive target discovery and therapeutic development. You will work with cross-functional teams to design and interpret multi-omic and genomic studies that inform strategy, biomarker development, and mechanism. You will translate complex data into actionable recommendations, leveraging AI and ML to accelerate discovery. This role offers impact across discovery programs in lung diseases and pain, within a collaborative, innovation-driven culture.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to define scientific questions addressable by genetics and genomics
  • Design, execute, and interpret human genetic, genomic, and multi-omic studies to advance target discovery and biomarker development
  • Apply computational and statistical methods to integrate internal and public data for actionable insights
  • Own analyses from question through recommendations and clearly communicate conclusions and next steps
  • Shape genomics strategies across discovery programs ensuring rigorous study design and alignment with project goals
  • Partner with computational and experimental scientists to leverage AI/ML approaches in genomics
  • Contribute to scientific publications, internal reports, and regulatory submissions
