Overview

In this role you help establish and continuously improve the HSE Management System for the project, aligning with FTA, OSHA, and ISO standards. You will work across teams to ensure compliance, risk controls, and effective communication of HSE performance. You'll develop and implement safety programs, conduct training, and lead incident investigations to drive learning and safer operations. This is a core safety-focused role that supports Hitachi Rail's mission to deliver safe, reliable rail solutions at scale. You will collaborate with stakeholders to sustain a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to establishing, documenting, implementing, maintaining and improving the HSE Management System on the Project per FTA, OSHA, GBMS, and Local Procedures
  • Support compliance with HSE Policies, legislative requirements, customer requirements and HRH HSE Management System
  • Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and determination of controls
  • Assist in HSE compliance and management system audits and development of HSE programs to meet objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in local HSE communication and site safety committee engagement
  • Identify emergency scenarios and help develop appropriate response measures
  • Monitor, report, and communicate HSE performance with recommendations for negative trends
  • Ensure HSE incidents are reported, investigated and analyzed for learnings
  • Support inspections of Rail Operations Center and stations for HSE compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support diverse operational activities and engage leadership and staff across the business
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • OSHA 511, OSHA 30 General Industry, or equivalent training
  • Experience in communicating, developing and delivering training
  • Experience engaging stakeholders across disciplines in HSE programs
  • Experience implementing ISO 14001 and 45001 within certified organizations
  • Experience developing and implementing site safety programs
  • Ability to inspect and evaluate workplaces for compliance with standards and regulations
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and promote safety culture
  • Proficiency in reporting and electronic communications with accuracy
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint
  • Valid non-probationary Driver's License
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations and handling sensitive situations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Stakeholder engagement across disciplines
  • Interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 implementation
  • OSHA compliance knowledge
  • HSE program development
