Overview In this role you will lead the technology strategy and execution for Visa's GenAI platform within the VERA team, shaping AI solutions across the organization. You will design scalable, secure systems and drive GenAI adoption to boost developer productivity and product innovation. Responsibilities- Define and drive the technical strategy and architecture aligned with business goals
- Architect, design, and code scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems and platforms
- Lead adoption of Generative AI and Agentic AI to boost developer productivity and product innovation
- Establish and promote CI/CD and DevOps best practices across the SDLC
- Contribute to critical projects by developing modules, core frameworks, automation tools, and proof-of-concepts
- Provide technology leadership in GenAI and motivate engineering teams to meet KPIs
- Collaborate with security, privacy, governance, and business partners to deliver compliant solutions
- Communicate technical strategy and engineering solutions to executives and business units
- Mentor and coach senior engineers and managers through knowledge-sharing sessions
- Implement rigorous development, testing, deployment, and monitoring practices
- Adhere to Visa's Leadership Principles and operate with ownership and excellence
- Hybrid work arrangement with in-office days as determined by the hiring manager
Key requirements- 12+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 10+ years with an Advanced degree or 5+ years with a PhD
- 15+ years in software engineering with large-scale distributed systems experience
- Proficiency in Java, Python, or GoLang; frameworks like Spring, Node.js, React
- Experience with RESTful and gRPC APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Strong experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI implementations
- Security-first mindset: API security, data encryption, and HSMs
- SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MSSQL, MongoDB); Redis
- Cloud and DevOps: AWS/Azure/GCP; CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
- SSDLC automation and automated testing tooling
- Architectural leadership for high-availability, reliable systems
- Hands-on coding and ability to validate new ideas and emerging tech
- Leadership and communication skills; ability to mentor teams
- Familiarity with payments industry compliance is a plus
