Overview

In this role you will conduct UX and usability research across consumer electronics, medical devices, wearables, and AI applications as part of Exponent's User Sciences Practice. You will design and execute studies, analyze data, and translate findings into actionable design insights for diverse stakeholders. You'll work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver rigorous, research-driven results that inform safer, more intuitive products. This position offers hands-on study work, client interaction, and opportunities to influence product strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Review and synthesize literature, data, and standards to ground study design and analysis
  • Design and execute primary user research studies including usability testing, surveys, interviews, and observational research
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including statistical analysis of metrics and thematic analysis
  • Provide project management for multiple projects, including budgets, deadlines, and team coordination
  • Prepare written reports and communicate complex analyses clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop client contacts and support proposals across various areas such as consumer products and medical devices
Key requirements
  • Ph.D. in Developmental, Experimental, or Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Vision Science, Data Sciences, Biomechanics, or a related discipline
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Philadelphia area
  • Willingness to travel for research sessions and meetings
  • Broad knowledge of scientific literature and ability to adapt expertise to novel problems
  • Strong track record designing and executing human subjects research using multiple methods
  • Experience leading multiple studies from design to results communication
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Assertive, self-starter with attention to detail under pressure
  • Proficiency in Excel, MATLAB, Python, R, or SPSS
  • Authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship required
