Overview

In this role, you will lead structural design on medium to large projects within Stantec's integrated buildings practice in Honolulu. You'll manage clients, contracts, financials, schedules, and a technical team, contributing to pursuits and integrated design proposals. As a senior contributor, you will mentor engineers, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive project success from inception to delivery. You'll shape design solutions for diverse structures while maintaining budget, schedule, and design intent. This position offers impact through leading complex projects and advancing sustainable, integrated design.

Responsibilities
  • Lead work on medium and large projects and manage a team of Structural Engineers
  • Evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products
  • Develop business locally and regionally for all disciplines
  • Manage complex tasks on projects valued from $30M to $200M+
  • Deliver quality construction documents
  • Plan, organize, and direct work to meet client expectations and project goals
  • Keep Principal in Charge informed on progress, issues, deadlines, and decisions
  • Maintain client relationships and lead project teams to meet budget, schedule, and design intent
  • Support negotiation and development of project agreements
  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and work plan
  • Oversee building documentation in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Mentor structural engineers and EITs
  • Ensure timely completion of Project Management Framework tasks
  • Lead project coordination and meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Manage change orders, payments, and budget-impacting modifications
  • Assist Operations Manager with staffing needs
  • Direct client invoicing and collections
Key requirements
  • Requisite knowledge of structural design codes and building codes
  • Strong knowledge of structural systems and seismic design
  • Deep understanding of steel, concrete, and wood framing with seismic considerations
  • Effective written and verbal communication to diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to review others' work for accuracy and manage time
  • Collaborative, creative, and critical-thinking abilities
  • Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CSI, RISA, RAM software
  • Bachelor in Engineering; Hawaii Structural Engineering license; 12+ years of experience
