Architectural Designer IV Mission Critical

Overview

As Architect - Designer IV, you lead design solutions within HED's Mission Critical sector, collaborating across interdisciplinary teams in hybrid or remote settings. You'll guide projects from concept to construction, mentor teammates, and shape design quality and push for sustainable outcomes. You'll leverage graphic skills, 3D visualization, and modeling to communicate concepts and support firm-wide quality efforts. This role offers impact through high- stakes, data-centered design in a collaborative culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop project design goals, program, and basis of design (BOD)
  • Concept design and implementation aligned with project goals
  • Address code and ordinance implications for projects
  • Conduct material and product research for development
  • Create presentations, reports, and enhanced 3D representations
  • Improve sector efficiency and quality of work
  • Interface with discipline leads and participate in project meetings
  • Document interpretations and review submittals during bidding and construction administration
  • Use generative design and automation tools with Rhino and Revit
  • Mentor staff and lead design efforts on multiple projects
  • Support QA/QC across projects
Key requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Architecture (4-year)
  • Architecture Licensure
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in A/E with project leadership
  • Experience in Mission Critical types including data centers
  • Strong planning, design, and graphic skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to mentor staff and delegate work
  • Proficiency in BIM/Revit and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Rhino, Concept Board/Miro, InDesign, Illustrator, Bluebeam, Revizto preferred
