Senior Construction Manager

Overview

As a Senior Construction Manager at HDR, you lead field construction activities to translate design into built, safe infrastructure. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage schedules and quality, and drive cost and risk control on civil projects such as roads, bridges, and water facilities. You collaborate with project teams to ensure design intent is realized on site while upholding HDR's employee-owned, inclusive culture. This role offers the opportunity to shape project delivery at scale and contribute to resilient infrastructure that communities rely on.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate subcontractor activities, scheduling and quality control
  • Develop and implement Project Management Plan and Construction Management Plan
  • Create procedures for contract administration (document, change, time, cost, quality, safety) and align with project team
  • Manage construction management tasks including procurement, schedules, subcontracts, constructability reviews, value engineering, estimating, and progress presentations
  • Administer on-site construction activities and monitor design progress relative to construction requirements
  • Oversee construction on civil projects (roads, bridges, water/wastewater, facilities) and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Support commissioning efforts as needed
  • Coordinate bidding efforts and procurement activities
  • Prepare and review submittals, change orders, and schedule updates
  • Control budget, schedule, quality assurance/control, and inspections
  • Ensure health and safety program compliance through communication and inspections
  • Prepare progress reports and manage project documentation and temporary facilities
  • Perform other duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Construction Science or closely related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years of construction planning and management experience
  • Experience with project controls: contracts, document, time, cost, quality, change management, site safety
  • Experience with Procore, Prolog, Primavera, Bluebeam, and other CM software
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with owner, engineer, contractor, and stakeholders
