Responsibilities- Lead day-to-day operations of a team of Commercial Underwriters and title professionals
- Provide underwriting guidance to personnel, agents, customers, and transaction teams
- Evaluate and underwrite title commitments, policies, and endorsements within delegated authority
- Ensure consistent underwriting standards and risk management practices
- Oversee settlement services and transaction execution guidance
- Manage departmental priorities, workflows, and performance objectives
- Support complex commercial real estate transactions by identifying risk factors and developing solutions
- Participate in project reviews, planning, and departmental strategy initiatives
- Review and approve underwriting decisions and related recommendations
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and talent development initiatives
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and retention of underwriting staff
- Partner with executive leadership on staffing and organizational initiatives
- Foster accountability, collaboration, customer service, and continuous improvement
Key requirements- 5-7+ years of commercial title insurance and underwriting experience
- 3-5+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial title insurance commitments, policies, endorsements, and underwriting practices
- Experience underwriting complex commercial real estate transactions (multi-property and multi-state)
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, and drive operational improvements
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Strong understanding of title risk assessment, settlement processes, and real estate transactions
- Proven ability to build cross-departmental relationships
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
