Overview

As a Buyer at Ford, you will shape procurement strategies for stamped steel/aluminum parts and welded assemblies, negotiating with suppliers to achieve best total value. You will collaborate across Global Supply Chain and cross-functional teams to ensure on-time, quality delivery at competitive costs. The role emphasizes strategic thinking, strong analytics, and excellent communication to influence supplier decisions. This position offers exposure to program launches and a chance to drive cost optimization in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You will play a key part in sustaining Ford's supply base and production goals, delivering impact at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation to deliver quality parts at optimal material cost within program timing
  • Develop supplier strategies and align with Category Manager to source programs on time with cost and quality targets
  • Present sourcing rationale to executive leadership and manage supplier relationships
  • Lead cost-focused negotiations and establish long-term supplier engagement
  • Support Quality initiatives by holding suppliers accountable and achieving targeted Q1 quality sites
  • Develop material cost roadmaps and collaborate with Finance and Product Development
  • Lead supplier Quarterly Business Reviews and Supplier Quality/Cost/Delivery meetings
  • Provide cross-functional supply continuity support and explore alternative technologies or sources when needed
  • Attend workshops and drive process improvements with stakeholders
  • Travel as required to supplier sites
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of procurement experience, preferably in Automotive
  • Experience with Stampings and Structural Assemblies
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or Engineering
  • Strong negotiation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic procurement software
  • Strong analytical skills and cost analytics capability
  • Ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Understanding of purchasing policies, procedures, and systems
  • Strategic mindset with knowledge of automotive industry challenges
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
