Overview As Senior Product Counsel at Figma, you partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to guide complex product decisions and go-to-market plans. You'll shape scalable legal guidance across PDE teams as product releases accelerate. You manage data protection, privacy, IP, and AI-related issues, building processes that enable faster, more confident decision-making. Responsibilities- Provide practical legal guidance to Product, Design, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams on product development and GTM strategy
- Review user experiences, disclosures, and external materials to mitigate risk while supporting product goals
- Collaborate with Commercial, IP, and Regulatory legal teams to align strategy
- Advise on data protection, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and AI-related regulatory issues
- Develop scalable processes and resources to expand legal guidance as product releases accelerate
- Identify emerging legal risks early in the development cycle to enable faster decision-making
Key requirements- 8+ years of legal experience in technology, IP, privacy, data protection, and consumer protection, with AI experience
- Proven ownership mentality with hands-on product engagement and ability to build processes from scratch
- Business-first, solution-oriented approach with comfort making independent decisions under imperfect information
- Demonstrated interest in AI and experience advising on AI-powered products or platforms
- US-qualified JD from ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent)
- In-house SaaS experience (plus)
