Overview In this role you will lead conflict clearance for new business, applying independent judgment to identify and resolve conflicts while aligning with ethical and business needs. You work closely with partners and attorneys to analyze complex requests, prepare reports, and coordinate waivers and engagement documents. You help maintain ethical screens, perform legal research, and provide training on conflicts processes. This position offers responsibility across high-stakes matters in a fast-paced law firm environment, contributing to rigorous risk management and effective client onboarding.

Responsibilities- Analyze and process conflict requests, including complex cases, ensuring ethical compliance
- Prepare database searches and conflicts reports for all requests, including high-volume/bulk searches
- Conduct corporate research to identify parties and potential conflicts
- Identify existing or potential conflicts by reviewing reports and documents
- Interpret database results and conflicts reports for partners, counsel, attorneys, and professionals
- Prepare concise descriptions of conflicts landscape per professional conduct rules
- Communicate with partners to investigate issues and propose solutions for conflict clearances
- Provide updates to responsible attorneys and users on conflict clearances
- Maintain conflict resolution notes and responses for each request
- Request waivers and confirm resolution of conflicts
- Draft conflict waivers and engagement letters as needed
- Inform attorneys of special circumstances in complicated requests
- Draft and implement necessary ethical screens
- Conduct conflicts case law and legal ethics research
- Provide conflicts training to staff as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Key requirements- 5+ years progressive experience in a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department, with 3+ in conflicts or legal intake
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, IntApp Open and Contract Express or similar programs
- Ability to work extended or weekend hours as required
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities; high level of autonomy
- Knowledge of ABA Model Rules and California Rules of Professional Conduct
- Understanding of corporate law practice and ability to conduct legal and corporate research
- Ability to communicate effectively with attorneys and business professionals
