Overview

In this role you will manage civil litigation from inception to resolution within a collaborative NH-based practice. You will handle matters across professional liability, tort and liability defense, and workers' compensation, coordinating with partners and senior attorneys. You'll draft key pleadings, conduct legal research, and monitor deadlines to support effective case strategy. The position offers mentorship, diverse litigation exposure, and a path to develop strong advocacy and client service skills. Responsibilities
  • Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Handle Professional Liability, Tort and Liability Defense, and Workers' Compensation matters
  • Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on caseloads
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, memoranda, status reports and other litigation documents
  • Conduct legal research to support litigation strategy and case development
  • Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely litigation activities
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation throughout litigation
  • Respond to discovery requests and assist with discovery process
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, and trials
  • Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions
  • Represent clients in New Hampshire state and federal courts
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and scheduling requirements
  • Communicate with clients regarding status, developments, and strategy
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to develop effective strategies
  • Maintain professional and responsive client relationships
  • Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment
  • Take responsibility for assigned matters under guidance of experienced attorneys
  • Develop litigation, advocacy, and research skills through hands-on experience
  • Maintain compliance with firm policies and ethical standards
  • Support firm commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and high-quality legal service
  • Perform additional duties to support business needs
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active admission to the New Hampshire State Bar
  • Minimum 1 year of civil litigation experience; 1-3 years preferred
  • Experience in NH state and federal courts
  • Experience handling Professional Liability, Tort and Liability Defense, and/or Workers' Compensation preferred
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, memoranda, and status reports
  • Ability to draft and argue dispositive motions
  • Experience taking and defending fact and expert witness depositions
  • Ability to manage discovery and litigation deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases
