Overview

In this role you provide strategic regulatory counsel to Franklin Templeton businesses, supporting investment advisers and senior management. You'll lead and contribute to transformative initiatives like digital advisory programs and AI-enabled tools, while advising on complex regulatory matters across jurisdictions. You'll draft and negotiate agreements and partner with cross functional teams to ensure compliant, risk balanced business growth. This position offers meaningful impact in a global, client centric firm.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and strategic counsel on regulatory matters under the Investment Advisers Act and securities laws
  • Lead and contribute to strategic initiatives including fintech, AI adoption, and digital advice programs
  • Deliver day-to-day regulatory and risk guidance to client-facing advisory businesses
  • Draft investment management, sub-advisory, and commercial agreements
  • Collaborate with investment, distribution, operations, and risk teams on regulatory implications
  • Interpret complex regulatory developments affecting investment advisory services across multiple jurisdictions
  • Support product lifecycle from concept to launch for investment products and funds
  • Work with internal and external counsel to deliver risk-based legal solutions aligned with governance and investor protection standards
Key requirements
  • J.D. and U.S. bar admission or in-house counsel certification
  • 4+ years' experience in U.S. investment management with SEC, law firm, asset manager, or industry group
  • Experience advising FinTech clients and dealing with digital investment advice, SMAs, model delivery, and options (helpful)
  • Experience applying AI in a legal context
  • Knowledge of Investment Advisers Act and SEC/CFTC laws
  • Understanding of financial regulatory and policy issues in investment management
  • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, prioritization, and communication
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with FT legal, compliance, regulators, and industry groups
