Assistant Athletics Director, Fan Experience

Overview

In this onsite, full-time role, you will plan and execute live event experiences for Stanford's ticketed sports and drive fan engagement. You will design game elements that reflect evolving fan preferences and coordinate with LSJUMB, Cheer, and other spirit groups. You'll lead a staff, manage budgets, and collaborate across departments to deliver high-quality event experiences that align with Stanford's mission. This is a stakeholder-facing position that shapes fan culture and event impact at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as project manager for multiple event-related activities, defining tasks and schedules and guiding the team to milestones
  • Oversee event teams and production consultants to deliver high-quality, multi-faceted events
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external university partners
  • Represent the department in cross-department project meetings
  • Manage deliverables, program metrics, and status reports as account manager
  • Prepare and manage complex program budgets across departments
  • Schedule events in appropriate on-campus and off-campus venues
  • Oversee registration strategy and logistics
  • Hire and supervise support staff, students, and contingent event staff; train junior event planners
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience (or combination)
  • Superior project and event management skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse team and enforce deadlines and quality
  • Experience with financial management of complex event budgets and analytical skills
  • Extreme attention to detail and ability to prioritize, manage complex workflows
  • Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills
  • Organizational skills and detail orientation
  • Diplomacy and tact in managing formal and informal channels; strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • California non-commercial Class C Driver's License required
