Overview In this role you will provide technical leadership for the Core Laboratory across Sayre and affiliated sites, ensuring efficient, compliant testing and standardization of processes. You will partner with pathologists and senior staff to optimize workflow, implement new initiatives, and guide both operational and quality areas. You'll drive validation, instrument evaluation, and cross-site policy alignment to support high-quality patient care. This position offers a chance to shape Core Lab practices across a regional network and lead continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership in Core Laboratory processes across Sayre and affiliated sites
- Serve as subject matter expert for system Core Laboratory procedures
- Plan and lead integration of Core Lab functions across shifts (scheduling, data collection, reporting)
- Ensure compliance with state/federal regulations and internal policies
- Assist in budgeting and procurement of instruments and procedures
- Lead validation of new equipment and testing procedures; guide affiliate sites
- Develop and standardize policies/procedures across Guthrie Lab sites
- Oversee safety training and compliance; manage documentation (quality, records)
- Schedule staffing, conduct performance evaluations, and manage disciplinary processes
- Coach and develop staff; conduct interviews and training; maintain documentation
- Meetings: coordinate with Administrative/Medical Directors; participate in system-wide standardization meetings
- Backup to Administrative Director and maintain open communication with directors
Key requirements- Minimum 6 years of laboratory experience with escalating responsibilities
- ASCP certification preferred or board eligible
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred; or Bachelor in physical sciences with relevant clinical lab experience
- Advanced management degrees or courses preferred
- Experience in Core Lab integrations preferred
