Principal Corporate Counsel: Incubation & Enterprise AI

Overview

As part of Cisco's IDA Legal team, you will partner with Outshift and Enterprise AI Platforms to steer legal guidance for fast-moving incubation projects. You'll help teams design compliant, innovative solutions while navigating technology law, IP, data governance, and AI ethics. You will work cross-functionally to accelerate development and graduation of groundbreaking technologies. This role offers a meaningful chance to shape governance at the edge of Cisco's AI and incubation efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal guidance to fast-paced incubation teams as they ideate, prototype, and graduate innovative projects
  • Counsel on joint development, partnerships, and technology transactions
  • Ensure compliance by design across cross-functional teams within and outside Legal
  • Advise on regulatory risk, IP protection, data governance, and AI ethics and risk
  • Translate complex technical and legal concepts into actionable guidance for executives and engineers
  • Leverage AI to accelerate and streamline guidance delivery to business teams
  • Support deployment and graduation of innovations in a manner that builds user trust and aligns with velocity
  • Collaborate with other legal subject-matter experts to cover product, security, and privacy concerns
Key requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) with 8+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Subject matter expertise in product counseling, technology law and transactions, and IP licensing
  • Strong analytical rigor to synthesize regulatory landscapes into business-centric advice
  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
