Overview In this role you will join Exponent's Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Menlo Park to solve urgent, high-profile engineering challenges. You'll work on multidisciplinary projects such as laser hazard analysis and electrical failure analysis, shaping your consulting practice around your strengths. You'll communicate findings to clients and contribute to business development while advancing testing methodologies. Responsibilities- Perform electrical engineering analyses and optical/electronic testing for ongoing Exponent work
- Interact with clients to convey technical results and support business development
- Prepare technical proposals, pursue business development, and supervise laboratory testing
- Critically assess test results, analysis methods, and testing protocols
- Generate new testing protocols aligned with new product designs
- Maintain systematic data collection/storage and produce reports
- Promote your skill set to engage in a wide array of technical projects
- Research and develop novel methodologies for cutting-edge problems
Key requirements- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Applied Physics, or related field
- Strong technical background in optics and electronics (optics, lasers, LEDs; electronics, controls, circuit design)
- Experience building bench-top or product-level optical systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently or in teams
- Ability to convey technical conclusions to engineers, business stakeholders, and related industries
- Ability to support multiple group projects and market EE&C Science Practice services
- Desire to help clients with their technical needs
- Willingness to engage in professional development (e.g., licensure, certifications, conferences)
