Overview In this role you will lead the Data Platform Engineering pillar within the Data Excellence & AI Foundations group, shaping Avery Dennison's enterprise 10-Layer Data & AI Operating System across multi-cloud environments. You will drive the transition to a high-code Platform Engineering approach, guided by GitOps and data-as-code principles, while mentoring engineers. This is a strategic role that blends architecture, governance, and hands-on design to enable scalable analytics and AI capabilities. You'll work closely with leadership to ensure secure, observable, and cost-efficient data platforms that power enterprise AI initiatives.

Responsibilities- Own the global architecture blueprint for enterprise analytical and AI platforms across OCI, GCP, and Azure
- Architect and deploy centralized Metadata Control Plane and automated Data Catalog with schema tracking, lineage, data quality observability, and context-as-code for LLM reasoning
- Design enterprise AI infrastructure standards (Vector Databases, Knowledge Graphs, Feature Stores, RAG pipelines) for Gemini LLM solutions and autonomous AI agents
- Develop universal security models (ABAC, RLS) and integrate Okta/AD, plus implement SRE-style observability for health, latency, and cost
- Lead and mentor the Data Platform Engineering squad, collaborating on career progression and competency matrices
Key requirements- 10+ years in enterprise data architecture, platform engineering, or cloud infrastructure design
- 3+ years leading technical teams in a global enterprise context
- Expertise in multi-cloud environments (OCI, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with Oracle ADW (23c/26ai), Databricks, and Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake
- Proficient in Python, SQL, Apache Airflow, Kafka/Confluent, CDC/GoldenGate, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitOps (GitHub Actions/GitLab CI)
- Experience architecting enterprise AI/ML infrastructure (Vector DBs, Knowledge Graphs, Feature Stores, RAG pipelines, enterprise LLM integrations)
