Overview In this role you will lead and optimize Casualty underwriting operations to support profitability and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with underwriters, IT, finance, compliance, and client service to drive process excellence and continuous improvement. You'll analyze data, manage resources, and implement automation and digital initiatives to improve efficiency and service levels. Responsibilities- Oversee workflows and resource allocation for Casualty and underwriter teams
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs ensuring regulatory and company standards
- Monitor KPIs like loss ratios, submission throughput, quote turnaround times, and policy issuance efficiency
- Collaborate with underwriters to remove bottlenecks affecting service, profitability, or compliance
- Drive system and process improvements including automation and digital transformation with IT and vendors
- Establish and manage QA across documentation, data capture, and transactional accuracy
- Support onboarding, training, and development of operational staff aligned with underwriting needs
- Coordinate with finance on premium processing, billing, and reconciliations to improve reporting accuracy
- Ensure operations comply with regulatory and internal audit requirements and execute remediation plans
- Promote continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational excellence
- Provide timely reporting and analysis to underwriting leadership and executive management
Key requirements- 5+ years in insurance operations supporting underwriter profit centers (Casualty or Specialty Lines preferred)
- Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products, underwriting processes, and service delivery requirements
- Strong analytical abilities including root-cause analysis, process mapping, and reporting
- Experience in operational process optimization and performance management
- Ability to interpret and act on quantitative/qualitative data (e.g., workflow rates, error trends, service levels)
- Excellent leadership and people management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across stakeholders
- Problem-solving orientation with proactive solution development
- Advanced proficiency in insurance core systems (policy administration, rating, document management)
- Strong Excel and data visualization skills; familiarity with Tableau and Power BI
- Working knowledge of workflow/process automation and digital tools
