Overview In this role, you lead the machine shop cell to deliver high-quality parts on schedule within budget, leveraging lean practices to drive continuous improvements. You will coordinate with materials, quality, planning, and program management to meet contract requirements and customer commitments. The position combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership of manufacturing, inspection, and tooling to ensure reliable, on-time delivery. You help shape manufacturing processes and budget execution in a mission-critical defense domain.

Responsibilities- Plan and manage all functions to manufacture and deliver products in line with contract and quality requirements
- Apply lean principles to drive continuous improvements and establish performance metrics
- Present performance and quality status to management on a regular basis
- Lead the machine shop cell to manufacture, inspect, and deliver products on schedule within budget
- Develop and control manufacturing budgets and ensure alignment with company objectives
- Coordinate manufacturing, planning, material acquisition, and inspection to meet contractual and customer needs
- Develop long- and short-range plans, operating procedures, and objectives
- Estimate manpower requirements based on forecasts and staff cell accordingly
- Ensure tooling availability and maintain supplier tooling with Purchasing
- Foster cross-functional communication to resolve issues impacting delivery and quality
- Support ISO standards compliance, quality planning, and contract requirements
- Hire, develop, mentor, and appraise cell personnel; maintain trained work group
- Oversee quality and program requirements, including CDLM items, ECPs, waivers, and non-conforming material
- Monitor metrics and trends (SPC data, budget, shipping status) and report to leadership
- Travel as required
- Maintain 100% on-site work setting
Key requirements- 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing operations
- Bachelor's degree in a business and/or technical discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience managing manufacturing budgets and cost control
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven ability to implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Familiarity with ISO standards, quality systems, and contract requirements
- Experience coordinating with purchasing, quality, engineering, and program management
- Ability to present status and progress to management and customers
