Overview

In this role you will lead design and construction projects at a leading pediatric hospital. You'll coordinate between Design & Construction, Facility Operations and external partners to ensure designs meet standards, budgets, and regulatory requirements. You will manage pre-construction activities, review designs, solicit and evaluate proposals, and oversee project execution from programming through commissioning. This is a mission-driven opportunity to shape healthcare facilities that support patient- and family-centered care at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Manage pre-construction activities for hospital projects
  • Oversee external planning and design consultants to ensure compliance with standards and user requirements
  • Provide technical design reviews across all design phases
  • Solicit, evaluate and select contractors, consultants, vendors, and manufacturers
  • Participate in project planning and programming
  • Develop internal or external budgets and estimates
  • Create design, construction, and certification schedules; manage contracts and purchase orders
  • Monitor budgets and schedules and report to Senior Director
  • Coordinate internal and external operations (Facility Operations, IS, EVS, Security, Infection Prevention) for each project
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA, ADA, JCAHO, EOC, ILSM, IDPH, City) and maintain related documentation
  • Deliver customer-focused service emphasizing innovation, excellence and teamwork
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years' experience in construction, project management and plant operations
  • Healthcare design and construction knowledge preferred
  • Proficiency in cost estimating and project scheduling
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills including Excel and Word
