Commercial Construction Estimator

In this role you will prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, analyzing drawings and specs to develop detailed takeoffs and bid packages. You will support bidding strategy and risk management to win profitable work, while ensuring timely, well-documented estimates aligned with project requirements. You will collaborate with project teams to clarify scope and assumptions, and continuously improve estimating processes. • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates from drawings, specs, and site visits
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing, incorporating proposals into estimates
• Utilize estimating software and MS Office to develop, document, and present bids and summaries
• Coordinate with PMs, engineers, architects, procurement, and field staff to clarify scope and schedule impacts
• Maintain unit cost databases and apply contingencies and markups
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation, including alternates and value-engineering options
• Support pre-bid meetings, respond to inquiries, and assist with post-bid analyses
• Ensure estimates meet company standards, version control, and audit-ready documentation
• Contribute to template/process improvements in estimating practices
• Perform occasional site visits to verify quantities and scope nuances

• 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with proven takeoff and estimate accuracy
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor productivity, and subcontractor market dynamics
• Excellent numerical ability, attention to detail, ability to meet tight deadlines
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and contract documents; familiarity with building codes and terminology
• Effective verbal and written communication and cross-team collaboration
• Valid driver's license and willingness for site visits
